Hawaii

After seeing several of the Hawaiian islands on our cruise, we knew we wanted to go back to Kauai! 

With two teenage boys who loved the beach but can't lay around for a week, Kauai provided the perfect balance for Spring Break.  Exploring beaches and hiking along the Napali Coast was just what we needed!

Staying at a condo on Poipu beach, we set out each day in our jeep to explore the gorgeous scenery and beaches of Kauai. One day we hiked in the jungle in search of a view of the Napali coast but ended up in a cloud and another day we hiked 4 miles of the Kalalau trail for a refreshing dip in Hanakapi'ai Falls. We found the crashing waves on Polihale Beach, tried to crack coconuts on Gillin's beach, jumped from the Lithified Cliffs, boogie boarded with the sea turtles on Brennecke's Beach,  and watched the whales from our balcony. We don't love laying on a beach but do love beach adventures!

Our first exposure to Hawaii was a cruise through the Hawaiian islands.

• Honolulu, Oahu: Dole Pineapple Plantation, Diamondhead hike, surfing on Waikiki beach, Pearl Harbor, USS Missouri Battleship
