Travel to Mexico: Your Ultimate Guide

Sunny beach with turquoise waves and fluffy clouds.

Cancun 2020

We ventured to Cancun 2020 twice! The JW Marriott Cancun Resort was recommended by a friend, as they had capped their capacity and seemed like a safe COVID destination. We went once by ourselves and then we took our sons, both in graduate school at the time, back right before Christmas.

During our first trip, we stayed on the JW property and only explored a few restaurants within walking distance for dinners. We enjoyed the quiet of the resort and walks on the beach.

On our second trip, we hired a driver to take us on a day trip to Tulum for a private tour, a cenote to explore, and lunch at a local restaurant in Tulum. Again, we spent several days enjoying the pools and grounds of the hotel and beach time, which are great Mexico travel tips for anyone planning a visit.

Our Top 7

Mimosas in the pool every day at the JW Marriott Cancun Resort!!! Enjoying the beautiful scenery while touring the ruins at Tulum is a must during your Mexico travel tips. Don't forget to explore the cenotes for a refreshing experience. This quiet resort, with restricted capacity, offers the perfect setting for beach walks and relaxation. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the JW Marriott to satisfy your culinary cravings. Mimosas in the pool every day!!!!
