Copenhagen, Denmark 2024

Copenhagen

We visited Copenhagen with our son and daughter-in-law in March 2024.  The weather was in the 40s and cloudy with a few quick rain showers the week we visited but that did not slow us down or keep us from enjoying the wonderful castles and palaces along with some great shopping!

We stayed at the Nobis Hotel (Marriott) and walked almost everywhere, but the trains, metro, taxis and Ubers were easily accessible when needed. We even made a fun day trip Malmo, Sweden on the train.  We don't normally use tourism cards, but the Copenhagen card included nearly all the sites we wanted to visit, was easy to use and included access to the local transportation system.

Aside from the sites to see, perhaps the best thing about Copenhagen was the food!  We had amazing Italian food at Barabba, seafood at Kodbyens Fiskebar, pizza at Baest, Smorrebrod at Selma,

and a wide variety of options at both the Tivoli Food Hall and The Olive Kitchen and Bar.  Every one of these were outstanding!

We definitely want to return to Copenhagen - most likely in the summer months to enjoy the city when its a bit warmer!

Our Top 7

  1. Food: From street vendors to pastries to gourmet dinners, everything is delicious!!! One of the best food destinations we have experienced!
  2. Palaces & Castles: All of them are unique and worth a visit, you can't see  too many castles and palaces!
  3. Shopping: From vintage shops to handcrafted pottery and glass to up-scale designers, shop til you drop!
  4. Caviar Pasta: The Caviar Pasta at Barraba gets its own spot on our Top 7!!!
  5. Nyhaven Canal Tour: The fresh air of a boat ride along with a little history of the city was a perfect way to spend part of our arrival day.
  6. Day trip to Malmo: Take the train to Malmo, Sweden and enjoy some Swedish meatballs.
  7. Tivoli Gardens: A classic Copenhagen destination for beautiful gardens, theme park rides and even a  concert venue. The Grateful Dead even played there!
